Known as the 'Giant Scabious' An unusual hardy perennial that forms a woody rootstock with fine cut, aromatic leaves above which large limy/yellow scabious flowers are carried from May to July on strong branched stems up to 2m. Although its a big plant its airy and delicate enough to place at the back of a mixed border, or mixed among large tree or shrubs. Great in a broad range of planting schemes.
The Giant Scabious requires full sun to part shade and a moist, fertile but well drained soil to bring out its best,
Ht 2m x Sp 80cm
Grown in 9cm pots ready to plant out with some larger 2ltr pot size plants available whilst stocks last.
Panicum virgatum 'Sangria'- New variety
Panicum 'Sangria has flat, linear, mid green leaves which develop rich very dark red tips then increasingly red down the full length of the grass into the Autumn, then fading to yellow. Airy, tiny red-green flowers are produced mid-summer to early autumn.
These grasses are known for both their very upright, vertical habit which makes a wonderful accent amongst mixed planting schemes and the fact they also develop strong autumn foliage colours. Topped with the fact that the masses of flower heads although large, contain really small spikelets spaced apart, this gives a nice smoky, misty effect particularly in the late autumn.

grown in 9cm pots ready to plant out
