Dicksonia Antarctica is the famous hardy tree fern native to Australia & New Zealand, and one of the oldest surviving plants in the world harking back to prehistoric times. Extremely slow growing, hence their normally expensive price tag . They make a dramatic statement in any garden once mature, a mass of roots form the thick trunk, from which long dramatic filigree fronds emerge, resembling monkeys knuckles, unfolding in the spring as the weather warms. Perfect planted in a shady spot with other ferns, or in an exotic planting scheme.
Eventual Hgt 4m+ x Sp 4-5m Preferring part to full shade in a moist but well drained soil. keep moist at all times, particularly the foliage.
