Drought Tolerant plant collections

Head Nurseryman and Gold medal winning planting designer Mike has conceived some border collections using his style of plants which take away the difficulty in choosing the right plants for the right place, and to guide in designing a specific look for your borders. The collection will also represent a saving over buying the plants individually.

This drought Tolerant Border collection comprises of a range of plants usually native to dry regions of the world such the Mediterranean that have evolved to thrive & survive in dry soils with little rainfall. They are also useful for a sunny border in full sun with a free draining soil & work well in some low maintenance planting schemes such as gravel or scree gardens.

With climate change & the increasing long hot spells we are now experiencing use of these selected plants will mean that you can still have an attractive garden, whilst using less water & losing less of your plants to the conditions. One thing to note though, this does not mean these type of plants can be planted and then left, they gain their drought tolerance once established so must be kept watered initially until that point!

This set will contain a mix of 4 x Grasses, 8 x flowering perennials, per each 12 plant set. Each set will fill out an area of approximately 5 Square metres when spaced at around 45-60cm apart

The 12 Plants will be carefully chosen from the following selected varieties.

Perennials: Anthemis, Anchusa, Agastache, Anemone, Cephalria, Crocosmia, Cirsium, Echinops, Erigeron, Eryngium, Gypsophila, Gaura, Geranium, Knautia, Kniphofia, Nepeta, Perovskia, Potentilla, Phlomis, Salvia, Scabiosa, Trifolium, Verbascum, Verbena.

Grasses: Anemanthele, Briza, Calamagrostis, Cortaderia, Chrysopogon, Deschampsia, Eragrostis, Festuca, Koelaria, Luzula, Leymus, Melinus, Molinia, Melica, Pennisetum, Panicum, Stipa, Sporobolus, Sorghastrum, Schizachyrium, Sesleria

There are three Border sizes

Small covers 5 sq metres and contains 12 plants

Medium Covers 10 Sq Metres and contains 24 plants

Large Covers 15 Sq Metres and contains 36 plants

There is also a cost saving on buying the plants in these collections rather than ordering singly.

All the plants chosen will be fully labelled and you will receive an information pack to help guide you in the preparation, planting and maintenance aspects for a drought tolerant border.
