Echinops bannaticus 'Taplow Blue'

The Globe thistle is a great architectural plant for the back of a hot dry sunny border, with its spiky glaucous leaves & bristly metallic blue globe flowers from May onwards, & if you cut back the finished flowers you will get a second flush into the Autumn, so great value. This perennial associates well with other late summer plants such as echinacea, rudbeckia, & is a great foil for ornamental grasses. Very attractive to bees, butterflies & many other pollinating insects.

Prefers full sun and a well drained soil.
