These spectacular plants grow at a huge rate of knots in the warm summer months, forming huge paddle shaped green leaves. Superb in a sub tropical planting, in containers on a patio or popping up in a mixed border amongst perennials & grasses etc. They must be grown in full sun in moist but well drained soil, best in a large container, or a sunken container in the ground to make it easier to lift later. keep in a well sheltered location away from winds which will shred its large leaves .

Most bananas must have winter protection from frost to keep their trunk, however if cut down to the ground by frost they will normally re-grow from the base often putting up a multitude of new 'Pups!' Water very regularly and keep well fed every 2-3 weeks for best results.

Your Banana plants will come well grown on in 3ltr pots ready to plant out, as all Bananas are either tender or affected by the frost, this should not be until the risk of frost has passed, normally by the end of May for most of the UK, but for Scotland this can be from mid June.

Plant your Banana on a free draining soil, but heavily improved with organic matter, All Bananas like a sheltered sunny site, to avoid their leaves shredding in the wind, Space out at 1-2m apart, as they can achieve massive growth & leaves!
