Known as the bistort, this variety bears long stalked spikes carrying flower spires of small, bell shaped, pinky-red flowers in profusion over fast spreading, clumps of prominently veined ovate leaves.
The flowers are much loved by bees and other beneficial insects and compliment most grasses and perennial plants. Great as a ground cover in sun to partial shade in moist but well drained soil.
