Persicaria microcephala 'Red Dragon'

Known as 'Persicaria' or 'Bistort' This particular type is a really unusual herbaceous plant, almost tropical in effect & could be mistaken for a houseplant even though it is totally hardy. Looks equally good at the front of a mixed border, or in amongst a tropical planting scheme. as a partner to Cannas, bamboos & Bananas. They prefer full sun to part shade & tolerant of a wide range of soil types. Very nice trailing in a container too.

This variety has sharply pointed arrow like leaves with striking markings of maroon & green with a light silvery chevron marking, Sprays of tiny cream flowers are held just above the plant May onwards.
