Product Details

Known as the 'Chusan, or Windmill palm, its the only truly hardy palm to grow in Britain. introduced in 1843 by plant hunter Robert Fortune, this stunning architectural palm has been gracing gardens the length of the country ever since. really attractive large fan type leaves top the stout trunk, and large panicles of tiny yellow flowers are formed late summer, which then turn to seeds which you can try to grow if your very, very patient !

A very tolerant plant in its requirements, prefers full sun to part shade, grow in a pot on the patio, or plant into your borders as long as the soil isn't totally waterlogged this plant will thrive, reaching heights of 7-8m eventually, with a spread of 3-5 m . as it grows upwards the bottom leaves die off and it forms a hardy stout trunk.
