Umbellifers

Umbellifers are hardy perennial or biennial type plants that are part of the Apiaceae family. Mostly characterised by their disc - shaped umbels, which comprise of many tiny flowers held on short flower stalks. All of which are very attractive to pollinating insects especially hoverflies, they lend a relaxed natural feel to the planting amongst a border providing a foil to more upright flowering plants & grasses.

Normally they are tall plants best suited to the back of a border or threaded through a planting to give incidental interest, their frothy dissected foliage & deep taproots enable them to withstand drought conditions.
