Verbena bonariensis

he classic bonariensis or purple top vervain, with its stout, rigid upright stems topped with clusters of tiny intense purple/blue flowers above green-grey foliage from June onwards. Ideal in a mixed perennial & grass border or container, this is one of the longest flowering perennials for your summer border.

the verbena's are the well respected group of delightful hardy perennials which are ideal for growing 'through" other plants, & mixed in for a naturalistic feel to a border. Looking great with all ornamental grasses & companion later season perennials , Stipa tenuisima grass in particular is a good partner for its frothy appearance & its great amongst all other mid to late season perennials. All Verbenas prefer full sun and a well drained soil, and dislike being waterlogged
